What?
The Semi de Cannes is an half marathon taking place in one of the best-known cities of the French Riviera. A 10K is organized the same day too.

Where?
In the centre of Cannes, the start and finish are on Boulevard de la Pantiéro, a few metres from Palais des Festivals that hosts the Cannes Film Festival.

When?
The 2010 edition is planned on Sunday, February 14th at 9am. On-line registrations are open from November 20th to February 10th. As for all the official races in France, you have to present a medical certificate (or a FFA licence) to pick up your race number.

Why?
A really flat race on the entire Promenade de la Croisette, along the best beaches in Cannes, a unique chance to be the star at Palais des Festivals. Enjoy some fresh and healthy local food, try the Marché Forville (the local covered market). Luxury hotels and international designer shops are all around la Croisette and rue d'Antibes. If you prefer a shor race before Christmas, the Athlétic Club de Cannes organizes as well the Cross des Iles (www.crossdesiles.org) a run around Ile Sainte-Marguerite, a natural reserve and a paradise for trail running.

How (much)?
The half marathon fee is €15-18, the 10K is €10-13. If you avoid the summer months, New Year and the Film Festival weeks, expensive Cannes can offer good bargains: finding a double room for less than a €100 is easy and there are many more options in nearby towns, as Golf Juan and Juan Les Pins. Easyjet and Air Berlin offer cheap flights to Nice airport, 1 hour by bus (less by train) from Cannes. You can find train tickets from Paris, Brussels, Barcelona and Milan (from €15 in advance).
