The starting point of the New York City Marathon, the Verrazano Bridge is possibly the most famous bridge among runners. But you can enjoy some of the most spectacular bridges from around the world, joining one of the following races:
Meia Maratona do Porto, Portugal
Along the Douro river estuary, enjoying the best streets of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia and crossing twice the (amazing) Dom Luis I bridge.
Venice Marathon, Italy
From Stra (near Padua) to the historical center of Venice, the Venice marathon crosses the Brenta Riviera and Venice lagoon and offers possibly the best finish in the world, just outside St. Mark’s Square after 14 bridges over the canals.
Half Marathon San Francisco, Usa
The race kicks off on the waterfront in Aquatic Park and offers a great scenic route in San Francisco through the Marina, Presidio, Golden Gate Bridge (twice) and historic Muni Pier.
Meia Maratona de Lisboa, Portugal
In Lisbon city centre, with the bonus of crossing the Tagus river over the 25 de Abril Bridge, the European Golden Gate Bridge: the finish line is just in front of the absolutely gorgeous Monastery of Geronimos.
Les Foulées du Gois, France
Not technically a bridge but an amazing causeway: a race against the advancing tide on the Gois, just 8 kilometers from the main land to the island of Noirmoutier and back, thanks to an historic causeway.
